Where did you go? oh life. Why’d you fade? Darkness seems to follow me now, and I shall never learn the truth. Did shallow talk become to much over powered by the dream? Everything I’ve lived for now makes me cling to death, wanting more to end it all. Let it leave me. Candles flicker dimly at…

BLANCO “SMILE” FALL/WINTER 2011 LOOKBOOK
Oh, I’m smiling alright! This is gold! Here’s a small cut from Blanco’s latest “Smile” fall/winter 2011 lookbook. David Durnan did a great job of capturing Joan Mirangels and Nikola Jovanovic this campaign filled with color, great lines, cuts, and bearings. I’ll take one of everything, please! Ha! While I continually mourn the closing of Christian Lacroix’s couture house back in 2009, the ballet he has costumed lends a glimmer of beauty and joy for the moment. And, I really can’t think of a designer more suited to costume this particular production.
Lacroix designed costumes for the ballet “La Source”, (at the Opéra National de Paris at the Palais Garnier through Nov. 12) with a small team, various expert workshops, and 1 million Swarovski crystals, donated by the company.
It’s wonderful to see Lacroix doing work so much in his element- the theatricality, the craftsmanship, the storytelling and above all the Eastern and North African aesthetic which he frequently referenced in his couture gowns as well. If i were in Paris in the next two weeks, this would be on my to-do list! -RS (Images via NYTimes)
